The 100/200/300 dictate the base form factor before operator customisations go on (silk screen, plastics etc.). For example the Vodafone branded Hermes is an HERM200, the Dopod 838 for example is a HERM100, and T-Mobile's MDA Vario II is HERM300 as it uses the other main button layout. The Hermes design itself is actually split into three variants, the HERM100 - the true HTC Hermes, and the HERM200 (devices such as the TyTN, Vodafone v1605, Dopod CHT 9000) - known internally as the HTC Mercury, and HERM300 - designed exclusively (?) for T-Mobile as MDA Vario II. The only differences between them are cosmetic - you can identify a variant by seeing if it has an oval directional pad (HERM100) or a square directional pad (HERM200). Source: Paul's SPV M3100 Review. HERM300 differs from HERM100/200 versions with front keys layout as well. Green and Red phone buttons have rounded-design.
The HERM100 stylus seems to suffer from the same annoyance as the Wizard stylus, it falls out. The HERM200 stylus seems to be realy well fitted in comparison.

HERM161 - 1350mAh (Found shipped with HERM100, HERM200 and HERM300 handset)
